What can I say about Michael Braud that most of you don’t already know. He has been in the game for well over a decade and Michael has proven without a doubt that he is one of the most insane skaters of our time.
When I made the decision to do a Filth-File on him, I already expected my heart-rate to skyrocket every time we went out to get a photo.
He definitely did not let me down. I have witnessed a lot of skating over the years but Michael has been one of the few that makes me want to turn my head away when he’s trying a stunt but it’s almost impossible to do when you want to see the progression of rollerblading in front of your eyes.
We spent well over a year shooting his Filth-File while he was in the middle of filming his newest skate video release BARS, which is now available for purchase online! DON’T BE A CHUMP AND BUY THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW!
Michael’s determination is very strong and when he’s set to do something, he gets it done. From finding a piece of wood to slingshot him onto a head high ledge, or a waist high rail you have to jump over to land into a 4 stair bank which was probably one of the most insane things I ever witnessed because Michael tried it well over 10 times, which in my opinion he risked death that many times.
Although Michael is originally from Tennessee, he’s been living here in NorCal for a good 5 years now. It’s not even a question that the JSF crew thinks very kindly about Michael because his attitude and passion for skating fits right into the NorCal scene. Getting together with some of NorCal’s finest to make BARS made the whole process really fun.
Shooting Cameron and Michael jumping a gap at the same time had to be one of the funnest sessions ever. To come up with such a crazy idea and then execute it was amazing to witness. This is definitely how you have fun with skating.
With fun also comes seriousness. One of the reasons Michael fits so well into the NorCal scene is his seriousness to make skating look amazing. At the end of the day we want to have as much fun as possible but Michael is so seasoned that he wants to ensure skating always gets seen in the best light. Again, BARS is the skate video to prove how much fun you can have skating and how high the level of skating is out here in NorCal.
A very educated man, Michael graduated from UC Berkeley a couple of years ago and is now in the work force making a name for himself. Although he says his stunt skating will be dimming down, I truly believe he will continue to push and progress rollerblading so that we all understand the capabilities you can have with inline skates. Even though there have been times I’ve watched Michael lace a huge hammer and I thought to myself “how was that possible?” but my immediate response to myself is “oh yeah that’s right, it’s Gumby”.
Ever since I saw Michael in skate videos and magazines back in the early to mid 2000’s, I was always impressed by the level of his skating and always wanted to skate with him. We share a passion for going big on our skates and it doesn’t surprise me that we are great friends. Not only is skating our bond but our views and attitude towards the world are very much the same…AGGRESSIVE as fuck!
Make sure you purchase Michael’s newest skate video BARS. You will not be disappointed!
